Due
to the physical demands and lengthy training schedule the first
step in Search and Rescue training must start with proper breeding.
Too many dogs are doing detection work who do not have the temperament,
solid nerves, or the drives to work 8 to 10 hours a day on a missing
person call out. Air scenting search dogs, land and water cadaver
dogs, disaster trained search dogs, and tracking/trailing dogs,
must start with a dog that has the right stuff. Some person's
life will depend on it.
Pacer
(above) and I are certified as a SAR Tech II Team from The National
Association of Search and Rescue. With hard work, determination
and the right dog,
it takes 14 to 15 months to earn your certification.
A wilderness air scenting search dog is the first step in becoming
a SAR team. All of the pups we sell that are older than 8 weeks
are started in this type of training. Building the focus in prey
and hunt drive is the way we start each pup form the beginning.
Scent
discrimination is essential for any detection dog or search dog.
Teaching the young dog to use their nose early is the key.
A good readable, reliable indication is a must when
doing
search or detection work. This is imprinted very early on in a
young pup.

Our german shepherd puppies and adult dogs are all selected with genetics
as the most important characteristic. We only breed and import
dogs with the most stable nerves, intense drive and sound temperaments,
with a proven ancestry of working dogs. We can provide a dog that
is guaranteed to meet these strict guidelines. Whether you select
a puppy or an adult imported dog you will have a dog that can
do the work. Our dogs come from the top producing blood lines
in Belgium, Czechoslovakia, East & West Germany.
