As women have sought out careers, moved into higher income brackets and, in general, have become more independent and mobile, they have been made more exposed and vulnerable to crime.

We are setting up a portion of the blog on our site to address topics that face women in their day to day lives that deal with their security needs. Some of the articles would cover: Women’s Security Issues, Going From a Soft Target to a  Hard Target, Women’s K9 Security Dogs, or Women’s Personal Protection Dogs. I want to address these topics only as they apply to women. Handling a Women’s K9 Security Protection Dog is not much different than the training we do for a Family Protection Dog or a Home Security K9. The difference here is we will direct our topic and training more towards the needs of women.

A Women’s Protection Dog is a great alternative to carrying a fire arm. I have talked with many families and single women who say a conceal carry fire arm is not for them, but they want some sort of protection. Owning a dog trained specifically as a Family Protection Dog or a Women’s K9 Security Dog is a great alternative and great companion as well.

Osaka is a very good Level I Personal Protection Dog. She has very good obedience and bite work skills. She loves to work and please her handler. Her bite work is hard and she is not hectic. She is easily handled and can be moved around to different position without much effort. She will move from engagement to a non threatening posture very easily. This transition is smooth with very good control and no break in concentration. She defends very well in civil drive, not needing the equipment to target on. Nero is a very good prospect for personal protection, search and rescue and dual purpose service dog for law enforcement. He is very fast and agile to the bite. His agility is tremendous which makes him a very good candidate for search and rescue as he is very sure footed. Nero is a very social dog willing to please his handler with a work ethic that is top notch. His searches will go on forever until he finds his pray. I enjoy working a dog like this as he is a very willing partner with high energy and great attitude. He gets along well with other animals. His obedience is very flashy with very exaggerated in his heeling movements.

Max is a super dog in all he does. He is very strong in obedience, control work, and apprehension/bite work. Max commands respect with all he comes in contact with. He is a very good dog.

Max has very full, hard grips in his bite work. He is very quick in his re-engagement with multiple aggressors and can work in control without becoming hectic. This is a dog that is clear headed and maintains focus on all he does.

Max is a pleasant dog to be around. He is not pushy or an overly- dominant dog that has to posture over all he comes in contact with.
